Older outstanding export invoices under the new rules

The practical answer

The transition provisions let ADs handle outstanding cases under specified powers while preserving earlier acts and omissions. A historical invoice needs its own chronology.

What to do

Collect the original export or invoice date, old declaration reference, earlier extensions, receipts and outstanding balance. Ask the AD which transition provision it applies. Use the current calculator only as an illustration when the bank confirms the relevant starting event and period.

A worked example

A 2025 invoice already recorded under an earlier workflow should not be silently recreated as a new October 2026 export.

Avoid this mistake

Do not assume the new effective date clears every previous reporting issue.

Keep a clear record

Retain the underlying invoice or accepted statement, supporting correspondence and any acknowledgement from the designated authority or authorised-dealer bank. The tools here prepare information; only the appropriate authority can confirm acceptance, extension or closure.
