EDF for companies and LLPs receiving overseas payments

The practical answer

An entity exporting services should assess the service declaration requirements, the correct authority and its authorised-dealer process.

What to do

Match the exporter name to the contract and invoice. Select a bank handling the foreign-exchange transaction, not merely an account you use domestically. Gather invoices, client details, transaction references and any bank-specific declaration. Review the draft through the entity’s authorised signatory before submitting it through the bank’s official channel.

A worked example

A company invoices two unrelated foreign clients in one month. A monthly service declaration may include multiple recipients, subject to the bank’s process.

Avoid this mistake

A director’s personal identity does not replace the company’s exporter details.

Keep a clear record

Retain the underlying invoice or accepted statement, supporting correspondence and any acknowledgement from the designated authority or authorised-dealer bank. The tools here prepare information; only the appropriate authority can confirm acceptance, extension or closure.
