EDF for a sole proprietorship: questions to ask your bank

The practical answer

A sole proprietor’s business context matters. The recent reported individual clarification is not enough to conclude that every proprietorship has no reporting duty.

What to do

Collect the contract name, invoice name, business registration details if any, and description of the service. Tell the bank whether the receipt belongs to a personal arrangement or business export. Request the designated authority, acceptable form and filing channel in writing. Use the builder only after this applicability question is resolved.

A worked example

A proprietor whose invoices use a trading name should include that context in the bank enquiry instead of selecting personal tutoring by default.

Avoid this mistake

Do not change the exporter identity to obtain a preferred applicability result.

Keep a clear record

Retain the underlying invoice or accepted statement, supporting correspondence and any acknowledgement from the designated authority or authorised-dealer bank. The tools here prepare information; only the appropriate authority can confirm acceptance, extension or closure.

Is this an official instruction from my bank?

No. This is independent educational guidance. Use the linked primary sources and ask your bank for its current process and written confirmation.

Can the website file my EDF?

No. Your inputs stay in your browser. Downloads are preparation documents and must be reviewed before use through an official channel.
